One of my favorite aspects of Burlington’s Jazz Fest is the WPTZ Block Party. In previous years I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the likes of Jennifer Hartswick, Rubblebucket & Grippo Funk Band. This year was no different, as Bearquarium really had the audience grooving.

I had seen them once before opening for Rubblebucket in December of 2009, and was completely blown away at how far they’ve come since then. Their style, depth, and energy were much stronger, like they’ve found their groove as a collective band.  The instrumentals themselves were amazing, and Justin’s smokey-yummy voice was icing on the cake. I’m not a music writer. I just know when I like good music, and I highly recommend you give them a listen.

I may also be a bit biased… my Husband is a photographer for WPTZ, and has worked the past eight Jazz Fests. I know I don’t blog all that much about my Husband, Jaime, my better half, my wedding-photography partner, best friend, and master of the dutch angle shot. This is what he does for his day job, and I am this hard-working man’s number-one fan! I just love watching him at work. Hopefully that last sentiment came off as endearing and not creepy, haha!
