Day 8 – September 30, 2015
This week of posts will be a little different than my usual 40 Days of Fall because Jaime and I took a few days off to celebrate our 7th anniversary in Montreal. It was a lovely break from work and technology, and we had beautifully sunny but chilly weather. We reconnected with each other, ate wonderful food, attempted to speak french, walked everywhere and saw new sights. A breathe of fresh air indeed! I present to you 40 Days of Fall from across the border – which surprisingly had less foliage than in Vermont!
The image above was captured at Atwater Market. We walked there several times from our AirBnB apartment, and grabbed meats, cheeses and fresh breads for picnic lunches. I just loved the morning sunshine hitting these gourds.
Day 9 –
One of our favorite things to do as a couple is to go out to eat, and specifically for breakfast. This was one of the best hot chocolates I’ve ever had – perfect for a brisk morning in the city.
Day 10 –
We visited the Montreal Botanical Gardens after enjoying a dinner at a food truck rally – hello 25+ trucks serving delicious foods! We had duck soup, poutine, and “Philly” cheese steaks that were not Philly what-so-ever, but still good once we took the lettuce off.
Day 11 –
It was so very cold that evening, so I ordered a tea while walking around the Japanese and Chinese gardens, it tasted like dirty rice water, but was so very helpful in keeping my hands warm!

Day 12 –
We also visited the Biodome, quite possibly my favorite place to visit in Montreal. The rainforest area is my favorite, the penguins are a close second.

Day 13 –
Jaime spotted the sloth (picture is not worthy of posting) so he got the gold star for the day, but I saw a beaver poop which I think is a close second. Sorry, this is a professional blog, no poop photographs here!
Day 14 –
We also hiked and picniced at Montreal’s highest “peak,” Mount Royal Park, but apparently I didn’t take any pictures, just made Jaime carry around my camera in the backpack… it was a nice view of the city – you’ll just have to take my word for it. Or, I’ll borrow our cute selfie from Jaime’s instagram feed:
