Sunday, February 5, 2012. Week 6.

I’m going to be honest here. I really was not feeling motivated to work on this project. My Grandfather passed away last week, and ever since his service I have had the song Amazing Grace stuck in my head. Normally I would find this to be quite annoying, but I love that it keeps Gramps in my thoughts. Amazing Grace was stuck in my head the whole time I was shooting these pictures, and I think the lyrics just may have subliminally inspired me. (And I would like to think Gramp may have had a little help with the awesome colors of this wintry Vermont sunset.)

I dedicate this blog post to you, Gramp. You will be greatly missed and fondly remembered every time I hear that darn song.

Amazing Grace, how sweet the sound,
That saved a wretch like me.
I once was lost but now am found,
Was blind, but now I see.

T’was Grace that taught my heart to fear.
And Grace, my fears relieved.
How precious did that Grace appear
The hour I first believed.

Through many dangers, toils and snares
I have already come;
‘Tis Grace that brought me safe thus far
and Grace will lead me home.

The Lord has promised good to me.
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be,
As long as life endures.

Yea, when this flesh and heart shall fail,
And mortal life shall cease,
I shall possess within the veil,
A life of joy and peace.

When we’ve been here ten thousand years
Bright shining as the sun.
We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise
Than when we’ve first begun.

Friday, December 30, 2011. Week 1.

This Christmas there was barely any snow on the ground, but as of yesterday there is a decent coating of crisp white sparkly snow – which complimented the blue bird skies perfectly. Just in time to ring in the  New Year (and my Weekly Winter Wonderland Project!) These images were taken in Richmond yesterday, it was chilly and amazingly quiet while walking the back roads. Every once in a while a gust of wind would come up and blow the light fluffy snow off the branches. It was harder to capture than you would think – hello manual focus with freezing cold fingers!

Cheers to you and yours, Happy New Year everyone!
