Phew, I’m already halfway through my 40 Days of Fall! In celebration, I give you 20 images of mushrooms. Why? Because I like them. Well, and because it has been so wet and rainy the past few weeks that I have really noticed a ton of them popping up. So yesterday when I teased I was going to post 20 of something, I had the perfect location scouted out. The cemetery up the road has had some wonderful different types of mushrooms the past few weeks so I figured I would just walk around and take 20 pictures. But when I got there, low and behold they had JUST mowed the lawn. D’oh! So I had to roll with it, and search a little harder for my fungi friends. I had my nose to the ground when I heard some animal chatter in the air, and looked up just in time to see a hawk land right above me. This is the closest I’ve ever come to one, let alone to take its picture. Simply gorgeous creature!
So even though the hawk is not a mushroom, it was just too good to not share. Add it to the never-ending list of why I heart Vermont so much: beautiful surprises even when you’re not looking for them.
