We spent our morning with Izzy from Sandeman’s Edinburgh Tours. Two thumbs up, as we learned so much about the city that we wouldn’t have normally known: as morbid as it may be, the wall below is made of “witches” – way back when the walls of cemeteries were mortared together with the ashes of people presumed to be witches. Weird but oh-so interesting. We also learned that Greyfriar’s Bobby is the most photographed monument in all of Scotland, and it is of a dog. Word is that when his master died, the dog stayed by his graveside for 10+ years until his passing. Now that’s dedication. I had my first haggis, which was not disgusting as I had first thought, and we enjoyed a Fringe comedy show at a super cute retro bar with stenciled graffiti wallpaper and chandeliers. We ended the evening with fish & chips in the park while watching fireworks over Edinburgh Castle (you can see Jaime’s 360 of it here.) No complaints here, life is good when you’re on vacation!
