Birch and bird themed wedding invitations blue and silver

This mini blog post is going to be a two part-er. You see, my little brother got married this past weekend, and I realized I had never taken the time to post their wedding invitations. There was a definite bird and birch theme to their wedding, check out tomorrow’s post for a few pictures of their adorable/beautiful/cute/birdy/rustic/amazing wedding.

Shown here are invitations printed on linen cardstock with a custom-designed embossed initial in metallic silver. The save-the-dates were post cards, and included the question: “What song would make you shake your tail feathers on the dance floor?” How cute is that!? Everything was tied neatly with a bit of twine – adorable if I do say so myself!

Custom save the date magnates by Vermont invitation designer

It’s that time of the year again for Letter10 Creative: save-the-date and invitation design! I figured instead of the same ole boring “blah blah here is my latest design” post, that I would attempt to do a behind the scenes of how Letter10 Creative produces custom pieces. An open book if you will of what the heck I spend my time doing when I’m not taking pictures.

First, I meet with the couple to discuss their thoughts, likes and dislikes. We go over samples, examples, and lots of colors, papers, and sizes until I have a solid foundation. In this case, I started with these building blocks: clean and modern design with no frills, a dot theme, and the colors orange and pink. The couple had a tree design inspiration that they really liked – and chose to do magnets for their format.

From there, I produced three different layouts, with different fonts, varying colors of orange and pink AND different modern tree designs. Below is an Instagram image of my computer screen of my “sketching” process. From there, the couple chose the elements they liked best: layout, tree, fonts and colors, and I meld them into the perfect custom design. And tah-dah! A save the date is born!

I find it funny that I have designed a handful of pieces this season, and all of them include trees. Each one is so vastly different –  I just love how it’s never the same thing here at Letter10 Creative. Check back for more behind the scenes, next I’ll share 150 invites featuring a custom hand-embossed monogram, oh-lala!

Happy New Year everyone! I thought today would be a good time to officially unveil our second-annual “Creatively Weddings” magazine – just in time for 2013! It is our catalog of offerings and oh-so much more. Within the 32 pages are 6 interviews with real couples and our preferred vendors. And speaking of vendors, we updated our list of 2013 preferred vendors – people we love working with. From cakes, to music, to flowers and makeup, we’ve combined all our favorites in one picture-filled article. I’ll let you check it out for yourself. Enjoy!
