It’s that time of the year again for Letter10 Creative: save-the-date and invitation design! I figured instead of the same ole boring “blah blah here is my latest design” post, that I would attempt to do a behind the scenes of how Letter10 Creative produces custom pieces. An open book if you will of what the heck I spend my time doing when I’m not taking pictures.
First, I meet with the couple to discuss their thoughts, likes and dislikes. We go over samples, examples, and lots of colors, papers, and sizes until I have a solid foundation. In this case, I started with these building blocks: clean and modern design with no frills, a dot theme, and the colors orange and pink. The couple had a tree design inspiration that they really liked – and chose to do magnets for their format.
From there, I produced three different layouts, with different fonts, varying colors of orange and pink AND different modern tree designs. Below is an Instagram image of my computer screen of my “sketching” process. From there, the couple chose the elements they liked best: layout, tree, fonts and colors, and I meld them into the perfect custom design. And tah-dah! A save the date is born!

I find it funny that I have designed a handful of pieces this season, and all of them include trees. Each one is so vastly different – I just love how it’s never the same thing here at Letter10 Creative. Check back for more behind the scenes, next I’ll share 150 invites featuring a custom hand-embossed monogram, oh-lala!
